The iSWAB-RNAv2 device is a non-invasive technology for the collection, concentration, and stabilization of intact buccal cells or any mammalian cells collected with a swab or cytobrush allowing for real-time ambient stabilization of total RNA from the point of collection to processing. The design of the iSWAB collection device allows for the maximum release of collected samples from multiple swabs or brushes into a single device, to achieve a more concentrated sample. Self-collection or assisted collection can be achieved in less than 2 minutes and is suitable for all population segments including infants, toddlers, and elderlies.
iSWAB RNA v2 Collection Kit is a RNA sample collection device for the collection, stabilization, concentration, transport and storage of RNA samples. It is a non-invasive swab-based sampling applicator and is intended to be used for sample collection from various sample types including intact buccal cells and/or any mammalian cells collected with a swab or cytobrush.

The iSWAB-RNA-v2 device allows for the non-invasive collection, concentration, and stabilization of intact buccal cells and/or any mammalian cells collected with a swab or cytobrush. Allows for real time ambient stabilization of total RNA from the point of collection to processing. The iSWAB™-RNA-v2 maintains RNA stability and protects RNA from degradation. The device allows extended shelf life stability (up to 4 weeks at room temp, several years at -20 C and -80 C), reduced processing time, and minimal storage footprint.
Storage and Stability
Pre-collection: 18 months from date of manufacture between 15-30° C.
Transport temperature, post-collection: 15-30° C.
Sample stability and storage, post-collection: viable cells are stabilized for up to 4 weeks at at 15-30° C; if longer storage time is required, collected samples can be stored at -20 to -80° C for several years.
Maintaining RNA stability and protecting it from degradation is a significant challenge, while current RNA stabilization methods such as PAXgene, Tempus, RNAgard or dry blood spots require invasive blood collection resulting in low compliance. The need to collect blood results in a very limited shelf life, forcing labs to invest in cold storage infrastructure or commit resources to immediate sample processing.
