Extract up to 1MB DNA directly from cells
The HLS2 system provides a new approach to DNA extraction. Users load cells suspensions or cell nuclei on Sage Science gel cassettes to perform lysis under electrophoretic conditions. This removes degraded and solubilized proteins but leaves intact DNA behind, bound in agarose. A cleavase is then used to carefully fragment the DNA into electrophoretically-mobile sizes. Automated DNA size selection collects the DNA in 6 size bins.
Targeted Purification with CRISPR/Cas9: CATCH*
CRISPR/Cas9 can be used to design targeted purification of large genomic regions or genes. This in vitro application with Cas9, termed CATCH, can enhance study of structural variation and provide valuable phasing information.

SageHLS vs HLS2: The HLS2 offers the same capabilities as the original SageHLS except for the capability to heat or cool the agarose gel cassettes. This has been deemed unnecessary for HLS-CATCH and supported applications.
Sage Science will continue to sell and support the SageHLS platform for researchers who wish to explore active temperature functionality with HLS-CATCH or other studies.
Instrument
The SageHLS instrument includes a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. A CPU is built in; an external PC is not required.

Cassette Kits
Kits include 4 or 10 ea. disposable pre-cast gel cassettes. Cassette accommodate 2 samples. Some reagents must purchased separately.
